Just 40 minutes from Le Clos de Balleroy campsite in Normandy, set off to discover the city of Caen - declared a City of History for Peace - with its extensive architectural and cultural heritage.

Staying at the Clos de Balleroy campsite means taking advantage of its proximity to a large number of cultural sites and discovering unmissable destinations.

A little history...

Caen is a privileged stop-off point on the route to the D-Day landing beaches. It is a city with an exceptional architectural heritage, whose historic centre and emblematic monuments will soon win you over. The Musée de Normandie, the château ducal, the ramparts, the church of Saint-Pierre de Caen, as well as the Abbaye aux Dames, a fine example of Romanesque art, and the Place Saint-Sauveur, are just some of the places you'll want to visit.

To finish on a historical note, stop off at the Caen Memorial. This museum, a veritable international cultural centre dedicated to the history of the 20th century and to peace, is a must-visit and a fitting follow-up to a historical tour of the D-Day landing beaches.
